Lagg Distillery is a single malt Scotch whisky distillery located on the Isle of Arran, Scotland. Opened in June 2019 by Isle of Arran Distillers, it is named after the last legally founded distillery on Arran, which operated until 1837. With its establishment, Lagg revives a long-lost tradition of whisky-making on the southern tip of the island, drawing inspiration from Arran's rich history of illicit distilling practices that once flourished across the isle. Unlike its sister distillery on Arran, Lagg is dedicated exclusively to producing heavily peated single malt Scotch whisky. The distillery's entire focus is on bold, smoky expressions that set it apart within the Scottish Islands whisky scene. This commitment to a single, distinctive style makes Lagg one of the few island distilleries with such a clear and unwavering peated identity, positioning it as an exciting and innovative voice in the world of Scotch whisky. As a relatively young distillery, Lagg is still building its reputation, but it has already attracted considerable attention from whisky enthusiasts and industry observers alike. Its revival of peated whisky on Arran marks a significant moment in the island's distilling history, and anticipation continues to grow as its heavily peated single malts mature and reach whisky lovers around the world.
