Auchroisk Distillery is a relatively modern addition to Scotland's whisky landscape. Construction began in 1972, initiated by Justerini & Brooks (J&B), the renowned London wine and spirits merchant and blending house, with the primary goal of supplying malt whisky for the famous J&B blend. Located in Mulben in the heart of Speyside, the distillery commenced production in 1974, making it one of the younger distilleries in Scotland. For many years, Auchroisk's spirit was destined almost exclusively for blending purposes. However, in 1986, it became the first distillery to bottle its single malt under the name 'Singleton' — a prefix later adopted by Glen Ord and Glendullan for their respective markets. Today, Auchroisk is part of the Diageo portfolio and continues to produce a classic Speyside-style whisky: characteristically fruity, smooth and approachable, with notes of dried fruit, spice and a gentle sweetness that reflects its Speyside origins. Though Auchroisk remains relatively under the radar compared to other Speyside icons, independent bottlers have long championed its spirit, releasing impressive aged expressions that have earned the distillery a loyal following among whisky enthusiasts seeking something off the beaten path.
